COSMIC's second Open Call at a glance

Mission:

Support AI- and data-driven solutions that improve how energy is managed, optimised, and used across Europe.

Goal:

Help SMEs and start-ups develop and validate practical solutions that contribute to outcomes such as better energy efficiency, smarter use of resources, improved decision-making, reduced environmental impact, and stronger digital energy services.

Programme details

  • Individual award: up to 150.000 € (lump sum) + 10 months support programme
  • Up to 13 projects will be selected
  • Eligibility: Individual SMEs or startups registered in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries
  • Applicants can respond to one of 16 challenges focused on AI- and data-driven energy resource optimisation. The full list of challenges is available in the Technical Guidelines.
  • Scope of activities: Develop, test, validate, and integrate innovative AI-based services and solutions within COSMIC’s energy resource optimisation ecosystem. Selected applicants will work with COSMIC’s AI-driven platforms, datasets, and large-scale pilots across Spain, Belgium, Portugal, France, Ireland, and Finland.

What kind of solutions is COSMIC looking for?

COSMIC is looking for AI- and data-based solutions that can help address real energy challenges and create measurable impact.

Solutions may contribute to outcomes such as:

  • Improving energy efficiency
  • Optimising the use of energy resources
  • Supporting smarter decisions through data
  • Reducing environmental impact
  • Improving digital energy services
  • Supporting more sustainable industrial, urban, or community energy systems
  • Bringing innovative energy solutions closer to market

How will selected projects be supported? 

Selected SMEs and start-ups will receive both funding and hands-on support during a 10-month programme.

The support programme will help beneficiaries:

  • Develop and improve their solutions
  • Receive technical and business mentoring
  • Test and validate their technologies
  • Prepare for market uptake
  • Connect with COSMIC’s European network of energy, industry, research, and innovation partners
